Getting back to our roots means slowing down, setting the phones aside, and gathering around the table the way families and friends have for generations. Few games carry that tradition like backgammon. With origins tracing back roughly 5,000 years to ancient Mesopotamia, it’s one of the oldest known board games in the world, and it has passed through countless cultures and eras, each leaving its mark on the game we play today.
Backgammon’s lasting appeal comes from its mix of strategy and luck. The rules are simple enough to learn in an evening, while every roll of the dice brings a new decision to make, so no two games ever play the same.
This set brings that history to your table in handcrafted form. The folding box is made from mango wood, prized for its warm golden-brown tones and distinctive natural grain, so no two boards look exactly alike. Mango wood is also a sustainable choice, typically harvested from trees that have finished producing fruit. Inside, you’ll find handmade wooden playing pieces. Closed, it makes a handsome accent on a shelf or coffee table, and it’s ready to open whenever someone says “one more game.”
